I shall make no promises to blog more often this year. I have decided that it's pointless. I am a scattered mommy of 2 toddler boys that likes to socialize and play more than anything boring at the house! With that said, here's where we are in life (in no particular order):

Christmas: Dance Star Mickey, Not the best gift for Clay:( And we think he is traumatized as he is now scared of his floating bath toys...

Daddy makes even a pillow case fun and worth fighting over

Ben and I were so blessed that this is all we had to buy them (thank you to our wonderful families)

We had a quick run to the ER.(Ben is fine no worries), but apparently we need a calmer Christmas Day in 2011!

Gripe of the day---

I am officially OVER Walmart. I think they have a total of 3, I repeat 3 double seat carts in the whole darn store!(which by the way the sticker says my children are too young/small for) SOOOOOO--Clay had to ride standing, sitting, and crawling out in the big part of the buggy. Meanwhile, Linc wanted to get out of the child seat part because he wanted to play with all the "goodies" in the cart. ALSO, they have approximately 40 registers. Can you guess how many were open? Yep, 7! AND 4 of those were express check out!!!!!!

So you see, I am going to Kroger next time with my millions of double seat carts! (Though we don't use the TV ones because you cant push those outside!!!)

For my friends who think I should be on Facebook- this would have been a great update! Haha.

I wonder if as parents with grown children, you ever look back at pictures and think: "What in the world was happening there?" or "Where where we (mom n dad)?" So here is the picture: And here is the answer: actually the video is at the bottom of the page because I'm having issues. Also,do you remeber "The Cage"? Guess that's what we get for refering to our "playpen" as the Ultimate Fighting Ring/Cage type deal. But really how adorable are these guys?!?!

Mother of Twins vs Mother of a One

Lately I have had lots of questions about raising twins. I must say that it's obviously all I know, so I can't compare it to just one baby. HOWEVER, there are a few key things worth mentioning that I truly never thought about during the pregnancy. Of course there is the obvious, double diapers, double feeding, doubel the night time wake ups, and then there are the following:

~ Mom of One (MOO): Every Detail written in//Mom of Twins (MOT): Atleast 1 empty baby book/~
~ MOO: Buys the $10 sales item // MOT: Is $20 to buy both worth it~
~ MOO: Perfect Professional pictures EVERY MONTH // MOT: Only been to a Photo Studio 2x(See Pics)~
~ MOO: Grab Baby, run in the store for milk // MOT: Get cart that is for one baby, strap one in and pray the other doesn't fall (AGAIN) standing in the big part~
~ MOO: Fairly easily go to the pool // MOT: Basically not worth the trouble to find a "helper"~
~ MOO: Lunch date with friends no big deal // MOT: Again a Helper or babysitter is best~
~ MOO: Smallish cutesy diaper bag // MOT: Plain, big backpack~
~ MOO: Pick up baby when he wakes up and snuggle // MOT: Feel guilty for picking up one before the other (Though I do get double snuggle in the end)~
~ MOO: No more mommy pooch after a year // MOT: Still desperate to loose the muffin top~
~ MOO: Blessed // MOT: Richly Blessed

I didn't write this to complain. I absolutely ADORE my "little men". There are just a few things that are slightly annoying at times...not that moms of one don't have those times too:)

The Birthday Event

First off, I must preface this with the following disclaimer. No my children will probably never get another party like this one, and most likely niether will any other Perry children. Haha.

It is true what you have heard. We now have TWO walking toddlers in this 3 br 2 ba house of ours. Linc has been walking for nearly 2 months now, and Clay has just started getting the hang of it in the last 2 weeks. In many ways it is very helpful for a mother of twins to have both her children walking at age 1. For example, you can let one walk into a friends apartment, let one walk to the cart so you don't always have to park next to the return area, let one walk into McDonalds to get the million calorie Frappe drink you so deserve. On the ohter hand....you have 2 one year olds going in 2 different directions at all times. Needless to say, our "cage" days are coming to an end, they work as a team and push that thing all over the place now.

Okay...back to the birthday party. It was a hit! I must show you my most domestic accomplishment of my entire life.
To many of you this is no big deal, but if you know me at all, you know that these 2 tiny little Mickey Mouse cakes took me an entire afternoon to decorate. Then after all that, no one at the darn party believed I made them. Ugh. Figures. I did though, and they were the cutest little smash cakes ever.

We had nearly 50 people, rented a clubhouse, had lots of food and an absolute great time. Well, maybe Clay may disagree. He had a rough patch when he realized everyone was singing and clapping for him. Totally freaked him out. Poor thing. Linc of course just ate his cake, and then went to sleep on Uncle Mark.

Life As We KNEW It...

It is safe to say that after our 3rd vacation with 2 babies, Ben and I officially have come to terms with nothing in our life ever being what it was just a little over a year ago. I mean, when you are "pimpin" the minivan loaded down with pack n plays, high chairs, giant strollers, and of course the cage, it just sorta slams you in the face. Not to mention the 8.5 hour car trip where you are just praying that they stay happy this time. That being said, we did have what you would call a relaxing (we had to take turns), fun (amidst all the work), and enjoyable trip to the beach. It did help that there were over 30 people in a house with us. Okay-maybe not at midnight, or 6 am, but it did make it easier on us.

As it turns out, Clay was no fan of the ocean. No surprise there.
So he chilled in his baby pool.

Linc on the other hand, walked straight into the ocean.

This was our daily set up (which I do recommend-except don't borrow your friends tent and then manage to break the darn thing)

We are coming up on the 11 month mark in just a few days. I can't believe how time flies. It seems like just a short time ago that we brought these little men home. Now I Understand what all the hospital staff meant when they said to "enjoy" my hospital bedrest because I wouldn't be "resting" much anymore. What did they know??? Ha!

I have decided that this is an age that I would like to just stop time. They are so sweet and so innocent. (Though Linc did get his first "spanking" for pulling Clay's hair this week. I promise he didn't even notice that I did it. He actually proceeded to pull Clay's hair about 3 more times) It is so neat to see them interact with the world around them, and explore all there is to explore in our little house. Our house however, is bigger than we realized as we had to "baby proof" things. Though we did decide they should learn "boundries". Basically what that means is a lot more following them and kissing boo boos on my part. I think they have each knocked the fireplace "thing" on them twice, pinched their fingers numorous times, and hit their head about 100 times.

I would also like to make it known that Linc has taken his first steps! Yay! He did something before Clay!!! I guess I will not be able to be competetive between them as they grow up, but bless his chunky little heart. Maybe when he starts walking he'll be able to keep up with Clay who darts around the house at 90 mph. They are both growing well and been healthy for a while, Have a mouth full of teeth, babble and snuggle like crazy, and now play and keep each other awake for hours at nap time. ( I have learned to use this to my advantage and actually get in some cleaning and exercising!)

In the next month we plan to get their party planned, go on vacation, swim in the pool, have LOTS of playdates, and enjoy the outside before it gets too hot. Hmmmm-sounds like lots of fun and NOTHING productive on Mommy's part!!! HEHE.

We had a great trip to Destin. The boys did AMAZING on the car ride down. Amazing. Couldn't have been better. The ride home was quite different. Basically if you can imagine 2 babies screaming in complete unison, as loud as possible, for 5 of the 7 hours in the car-then you can imagine our NON-AMAZING ride home. To their credit though, they were perfect on the trip. Slept, ate, played. Did great. They did hate the sand and the water.

I am not sure where to even start right now. So many things have changed lately. One of them thank goodness being my size!!! They aren't kidding about the 9 months to put it on 9 months to take it off! I occasionally look at my sweet little ones, while eating my "yummy" baked chicken and salad, and say "Thank you! I did 3000 calories a day for you ya know!". Oh well, one day I WILL be back to my old self! The boys are 8 months now, and gosh do they keep us busy. Linc especially. Though he has seemed to do everything a little later than Clay, he has managed to figure out how to get in to EVERYTHING! Apparently the toys I had out weren't good enough! He found his long lost "Puff". (He was then stuck because we don't know how to reverse yet) Clay on the other hand has been scooting around and being just as crazy as ever. He LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse ( I am that mom). He actually screams and smiles every time Mickey comes on the TV. He even does it when we imitate Mickey or show him his Mickey bib. He always thinks we are talking to him and smiles at everything. He even laughs at random cars honking on the TV in the background. He is even silly when he drinks his bottle! He is ALWAYS happy to see us, especially when he hears his daddy come home! It is wild to have 2 babies at the same age growing up together everyday. They are so incredibly different already. It really makes me think back to all those lectures in college about "Nature vs Nurture". I mean, we are the same parents obviously, doing exactly the same thing. Or are we? Do we snuggle Linc more because he loves it? Do we make Clay laugh more because he thinks everything is funny? Who knows, but it's definitely something we think about all the time. Are we doing the right thing...for both of them?

As of now, Ben is still selling away in the down economy that is paint sales. I am still truly enjoying staying home and seeing all my babies firsts. We did decide not to move and terminated our contract 3 days before closing. We had a FANTASTIC Realtor (yes me), who got us back ALL of our earnest money! We truly felt like God was closing the door to that thought for now, so we are happily cleaning out and purging stuff! I surprised Ben with a HUGE storage shed and now we have a weight set AND a minivan in the garage. Literally the first time I have ever parked in the garage I think. Soon to have lots of baby stuff moved out of the house too. Ahh...room to breathe! I know this is a long post, but it may be awhile! So I will leave you with what I tried to video of them playing together..sorta. My next post will hopefully be a successful beach vacation story! Ha Ha We'll see.

MY DISCLAIMER: I do know those pants don't match! AND I didn't edit out the "u do not want to burp" because I don't have time. That saying always made Linc laugh--we have figured out recently that it is the "P" sound exaggerated that he thinks is so funny. What are you gonna do?!

Wow! I thought that as the babies got older I would have much more time to blog! I stand corrected! Now that they are just bumps on a log, they don't seem to want me to type on the computer all that often!!!

What's been going on with us...LOTS! Obviously we just had our "Babies' First Christmas". I must say they didn't really seem to care, other than they were held and passed around to millions of people for about 3 days straight! They did make some cute pictures for me though. Many have asked "What did you get the boys?". The answer is a resounding NOTHING! Never thought I'd say that! We asked our selves "What would Dave (Ramsey) do?" We decided that he would agree that they have no idea whats going on, and when you have as generous a family as we have-they'd get more than they possibly could ever need!

Oh yes- to add to all the crazy schedules and visiting, both babies are teething like crazy! Linc has both his bottom teeth (got those about a month ago) and Clay's just came through. Can we say "BABY TYLENOL" 'round the clock! We tested the orajel-did you know that stuff wears off in about 2 min! Yes the night time formula! Waste of money!

They also learned to roll all over the place. Funny how they got moved up in church nursery from "bed babies" to "kickers", saw some other babies rolling, and both starting rolling around the next day. (I guess when those babies start crawling, I'm gonna have to keep them home from church. I'm not ready for that yet). So I did what I never thought I would do---bought the "CAGE"

I think Ben is training them for UFC Cage Fighting!

We have also decided that we don't have enough going on and are under contract on another house. Only this time we aren't flipping it...we are moving in!!! Yes we have lost our minds! Apparently 2 babies came with WAAAAYYYYY to much stuff. Ben actually calls me a "hoarder" now (I did consider slapping him for it). We close next Friday, and will hopefully have work complete to move in by early February. We shall see.

I have so much more to catch up on, but as I said before, Linc and Clay don't love the "no mommy" time. Hope you all had a great Christmas!

The Magical 3 Month Switch

OH MY GOODNESS! I didn't believe people when they said "just hang in until he's 3 months" about Clay. WOW! So far they are right! it is like a switch was just shut off. For example, he has been laying under his jungle gym for 30 min just "playing" and "talking", before that the pack n play for about 15 min, and before that his bouncy seat for about 40 min! All this time he has just smiled and babbled to him self. It is amazing! I was worried that Linc is now my fussy baby-but after 3 weeks of fussiness, I think I have decided I am starving the poor thing. So we will have to see if one more ounce will do the trick.

The boys are really growing and thriving. They smile all the time, and "talk" back to anyone who will listen. Linc has laughed for his first time today and he rolled over also (though I think it was an accident). Clay has found his hands and goes cross eyed following them, and he now grabs the toys that dangle over him. They both really seem to recognize our voices too.

As for sleeping through the night-they have only done that on the same night ounce. The ONE night that it was Ben's turn to get up with them!!! I mean come on!!! One day they are gonna get it down though...please! Basically we now have a "normal" life with 2 infants. The days are sometimes crazy-and we are a sight to see coming with our big ole stroller, but its fun and we love it. Okay I'll be honest, some days we just want to do nothing, or go to the waffle house at midnight, or just run in the store "real quick". And sometimes we just don't want to "work" anymore, but it truly is all worth it:)

Where does the time go!!!

It is truly amazing that Linc and Clay are already 2 1/2 months old! I am only hoping that those "terrible twos" seem as quick!!! They are doing soooo well and Clay ahs even started to be a happier baby! Probably thanks to the meds he's on now. Who would have ever thought a tiny little baby could take zantac! As of last week, Linc is a whopping 12 lbs 6 oz (Big eater), and Clay is catching up still at 10 lbs 10 oz!

It's been a while so let me see if I can catch up.

The boys and I took our first day trip about two weeks ago. We rode with my dad up to Tennessee to visit with my grandparents, my great grandmother, and my aunt and her 2 sweet little ones! The boys did great in the 2 1/2 hour car ride. They really didn't cry much on the way there, and only cried on the way home when it was time to eat. (Mommy didn't time that exactly right though:) ) That week was thankfully the best week yet as far as the babies go, because Ben got some kinda sickness and we had to keep him away from the babies. All by myself It was so cute how much Ben missed the boys. um and me...right. Anywho, we survived the week.

Did I mention no more boppy!!!! They have ended up sleeping on their stomachs during the day and in those wedge things at night. Seems to work pretty well. Tonight I am finally putting them in their own room. YAY! They slept from 10:30 to 5:00 am last night!!! I will admit that was with the help of some cereal in the bottle, but thank goodness I finally got a nice stretch of sleep!

The 2 month mark

Wow has time flown by. I can't believe that it is already 2 months, I can say that we finally feel like we are getting the hang of it. We have done doctors, church, out to dinner, professional pictures, looked at houses, babies r us, a rehearsal dinner, a wedding, sunday school party, and this weekend we will head to our first birthday party. (This will also be our longest non stop ride to Franklin County).

Things are going well. They are finally sleeping with out being in their boppy-an accomplishment I never thought would happen. I have "mastered" not only feeding them at the same time but also burping them at the same time. Not so good when Linc spits up though!!! Fortunately they sleep well at night and will hopefully be sleeping more than 4 hours at a time soon,

Wedding Weekend Mania!

Okay so it wasn't that ba really. Both boys were sooooo well behaved. After 10 mins of "wrestling" with the stroller on my own (Ben was at the rehearsal), both babies were WIDE awake and starving of course. I fed them and then they went to sleep in about 10 different peoples arms! At the wedding I was a sure sight with ALL my gear loaded into the back pew. I got there early, fed and changed them, and the Ben's cousin Allie and I rocked them to sleep. They didn't make a sound the entire wedding!!! YAY! They even made it to the end of the reception with out any breakdowns. Of Course, Clay screamed all the way home--but who cares!

Schedules...Babywise...and more...

I must say that I have made some major conclusions about all of this stuff. First off let me say that I have managed to get Linc and Clay on the same schedule. It is so much the same that I am now figuring out how to feed both of them at the same time. They wake up at precisely the same moment desperate to eat! It is actually quite crazy how they both start "stirring" together. It's a good thing, but sometimes a little crazy at the Perry house.

Babywise...that is what I was told I should "live" by when we came home from the hospital. Well let me say something about that. If you have a baby like Linc (calm, relaxed, easy) you can totally do the babywise thing with no problems. HOWEVER, if you have a baby like Clay (fussy, jumpy, and easily upset)-It will NEVER happen. You will be so happy that they fell asleep, you won't even care that it is in the swing. I think it said something about keeping them up for 10-20 min after feeding. If they were awake for the ENTIRE 2 hours since the last feeding-trust me let them fall asleep while your trying to get a burp out of them. As you can see, at some point you just do what works and don't worry about all the things you read.

Okay-I have more to say about this, but it will have to wait. Linc is unwilling to hold off eating any longer. (yes I am a mean mommy and made him wait out that last 30 min. To be continued....

Ben is back to work now! Can't believe how quickly 2 weeks fly by when you have two little ones eating, sleeping, and diapering all day!!! Things are going good though. I take the nights and bring the boys into the living room for their feeding so ben can stay asleep. So far that works for us. Ben can function during the day he says. I am healing pretty well from the surgery now. Feeling pretty good. Still get a little tired though, but Im sure that goes with the whole parent thing anyway. Well, duty calls-Linc is soing his famous "grunting". He hasn't quite learned to cry. Clay on the other hand knows how to scream!

I just realized I haven't mentioned one very important thing. Ben...Wow does he love being a daddy. He now refers to himself as the swaddle master! I still have trouble using the dang store bought swaddlers! Not Ben though. He also has probably changed about twice as many diapers as me and given at least as many bottles as me. He even taught me how to care for the whold circumcision situation. He went from being terrified of babies-to no worries at all. It is so great!

Also-We have concluded for now that Linc DEFINATELY looks like Ben and the other Perry's. Clay was a little more tricky, but does have more of my features. Obviously, my hair is what they have now, but maybe it will fall out and come back some other color.

FINALLY-I just want to say that I am totally aware that their are typos all over the place on this thing. However-for now I am just lucky to be getting it updated. So please forgive me as you cringe while you read it. I know it would drive me nuts.

2 weeks old!

Linc and Clay are 2 weeks old today, and boy have they grown. As of Monday's Dr. visit, Linc was back to his birth weight of 7 lbs 3 oz and Clay went from 5 lbs 12 0z last week to 6 lbs 4 oz. He is catching up quickly! We still haven't completely figured everything out. We do know that Linc is our laid back, calm baby. Clay on the other hand is a bit of a mess-but he is so darn precious! Clay always seems to be waiting for something to get him. Its hilarious really. As for Ben and I, we are slowly (I mean slowly) getting a grip on the night feedings and sleep. As you can see from the pic above, we are desperate at night and do let them sleep in their boppy. I'm not sure what kind of parent that makes us, but that does allow us to get some much needed sleep! Other than going completely stir crazy in the house, every one is healthy and happy.

Finally! We are home and settled!

Well-it only took me a week and a day to get this posting on. Im not surprised though really! SO to update you all we had our precious little boys on Friday June 12th at 8:30 (and 8:32) in the morning! It was by csec and was gliche free as far as the "delivery" goes. If you can believe Ben even watched AND took pictures (trust me I am not posting those!). We did have a few issues that afternoon with me that ended up with me in high risk preg ICU, but eventually did get everything under control and headed home on Monday. (22 days in the hospital-ugh!!!)

The first night was definately rough! Clay screamed until 3:30 or so in the morning. Finally-we shoved both boppys into the pack n play (horrible I know) and the passed out till it was time to eat again. WE LOVE THOSE THINGS! The next nights were better. We don't use the boppys so please don't tell me what babd people we are. HOWEVER- we now LOVE this electronic thing that makes sounds like the womb. If they more to much or cry out it automatically turns back on for about 5 mins and they settle themselves back down.

So we have basically just been getting into the swing of things, praying that I get back to my normal self soon, and that Ben gets enough sleep to not need a vacation when he heads back to work!!! Clay and Linc are just precious and can't wait to meet you!

10 HOURS UNTIL BABIES!!!!

It's FINALLY here! We made it through 19 days of hospital bed rest!!!! YIPPEEEEEEE! We will be having the boys by Csec tomorrow (the 12th) at 8:15 am! As of Tuesday morning they estimate Linc to be 7 lbs 2 oz and Clay to be 6 lbs 10 oz! Hopefully they are pretty close. We will try to update with baby pics as soon as possible! Thanks for all of your encouragement and support and lots of prayers!

PS. This is the only time in my LIFE I will put such horrific pictures of myself up!!! Yes I out grew that shirt while in the hospital:)

PSS: Ben is stretched out on his air mattress....trying not to freak out. (Me too)

Never thought I'd see this day...but here I am. Sitting and waiting while I continue to grow. I only hope Linc and Clay are growing as much!!!!

As many of you know, Ben and I had to make an emergency trip to the hospital on May 24th. My blood pressure was around 155/101 when we arrived. (A sign of preeclampsia). By midnight that Sunday night, I was admitted in to the high risk ICU. Though i kept waiting for them to send me home or deliver these boys, here I sit- typing with one hand, hooked up to a monitor watching the baby heartbeats and monitoring contractions. (which so far have not been more than 5 in an hour). I am officially 37 weeks and 1 day. unless i go into labor (doubtful in my opinion), we will meet these sweet boys by csec on Friday morning (June 12).

As you can imagine, Ben is spending LOTS of time in the car as he works 30 min from our house, and drives 45 min (w/out atl traffic) to see me everyday. He is so sweet. He does go stir crazy after about 45 min of being here:)

BTW-I am HUGE! Thanks to a 6lb 2oz Linc and a 5lb 12 oz Clay (as of a week and a half ago). You should see me "roll" out of my hospital bed!

Nursery Update

I wanted to post some pitures of the nursery. It is ready in the sense that it could be a "functioning" nursery, but we still have a few things left to do. We have one more crib to set up and move the pack n play out. Also, we are having the glider covered with an adorable animal print to match the room, but it is not quite finished yet. For now, here is our work in progress. Oh- and you can't tell in the pics very well but Ben painted subtle stripes around the room that look really neat. Also, I have to take the credit for painting the words on the wall ALL BY MYSELF, and the two paintings were done by Ben's cousin Mary Beth (very talented).

Big Babies!

At our doctor visit Weds morning we were informed that we could decide if we wanted to have a regular delivery with the second baby being delivered breech, or if we wanted to have a C-section. After a lot of thought we have decided to go the route of a c section (unless Clay turns). HOWEVER- that afternoon we went for our ultrasound and it is not looking like Clay will be turning because there is no room for him to do so!!! They estimate Linc (baby A) to weigh about 5lbs 12oz, and that Clay is about 5lbs. WOW! They also measured Linc's head to be about 14 inches in circumference. The Perry Head lives on :) We don't remember how big Clays head was-(bad parents already I guess), but it was a little more "normal". So...all in all, it looks like the boys are doing well. Now, if we could just be patient and wait for them to get here. I must say--I am totally over being pregnant. Well, maybe I'm just over being FAT!!! I have almost finished week 34 so we will see how long we go!!!

Maternity Leave

It has finally happened! Or maybe I should say already happened. I don't know, but I am officially on Maternity Leave now. I hated to leave my kids with only 3 weeks left, but I am told it was time to take care of my own kids! So here I am just hanging out at 31 weeks with my feet up:) The goal is to get at least 4 more weeks out of these boys. Wow! That's a crazy thought since I have been sooo pregnant for sooo long now. Luckily It has been a smooth pregnancy once we got past the initial 4 weeks of bed rest. The Dr says that for being my size and having twins I am doing well though. As of yesterday, I have officially gained 60lbs!!! What could I have expected on a 3000 calorie PER DAY diet though! I think I have even grown more this week. I will post another pic soon and hopefully get some nursery pics up too.

If you have seen me often through this pregnancy, you know there is no denying how FAST I got to be so huge. I was measuring for a full term single pregnancy by about 5 and 1/2 months. I didn't do that great at keeping pics until lately so thought I would share with everyone just how big you can get when you are pregnant with twins.

So I am finally connecting with the world through this crazy Internet. You must forgive me-as much as I love the computer and surfing the net, Ben and I have always been against the whole myspace and facebook thing. That being said, I have been harassed by many friends since they have to actually "talk" to us to know anything that is going on in our lives. Apparently this is no good anymore. I figure that with 2 babies on the way my "talking" time may be limited and with lots of crying in the background. My guess is no one will want a call from me when I am up at 2 in the morning!!! Your welcome for that. So bare with us as we figure out all the fun things we can do on this site. It may look a little crazy for awhile while I play around with it.
